Why Wits End is a good place to visit, but maybe not to live…
“Yeah, I can sew that! No problem!”, was my reply when asked to make over 20 pairs of knickers for my daughters school play. I mean how hard could it be? Up to that point I had made 3 pairs of perfectly darling pajama pants, never mind the fact they basically disintegrated after the 3rd washing. Oh no, I was going to be a valuable asset to this costume team, and sewing a few pairs of knickers for the orphans in the Oliver musical wasn’t going to stop me. I started with a search for some navy flannel that could be purchased in bulk, and was successful. I discovered it turned the skin a lovely shade of blue after handling it for a few hours, but I pressed on. I was not going to allow myself to get overwhelmed by zip flies, buttons or snaps. was going for a basic elastic waistband.
